Chris Haug: April 10, 1956 – May 29, 2025
With deep sadness, we share the news of the passing of Chris Haug—an esteemed member of our Entrepreneurs in Residence team, and a valued friend to so many across the bwtech community.
Chris leaves behind a powerful legacy as a mentor, innovator, and champion for entrepreneurs. As part of our team and in his adjunct position at UMBC, Chris generously shared his knowledge and experience with students, early-stage founders, and seasoned business leaders alike—always with compassion, curiosity, and an unwavering belief in the potential of others.
Through his leadership with Startup Grind Maryland, Chris helped connect and inspire entrepreneurs across Maryland (and beyond to Startup Grind’s global community of nearly 150 countries), building a network rooted in community and collaboration.
At bwtech, his insight helped shape our programs and guide our mission to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. His encouragement lifted countless ideas into action, and his absence will be felt profoundly.
We are grateful for the time we had with Chris and for the lasting impact he made on our ecosystem. He will be deeply missed.
