The Business Office at bwtech@UMBC provides strategic financial and administrative support that powers the organization’s daily operations and long-term growth. Committed to accuracy, efficiency, and accountability, the team delivers responsive service while ensuring strong financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

The office oversees a wide range of financial and operational functions, including accounts payable and receivable, procurement and purchasing, foundation and affiliated account administration, grants and research financial support, and leasing and property management. Working collaboratively across the organization, the Business Office helps ensure seamless operations and effective support for bwtech’s growing innovation community.

Bobbie Soellner

Business & HR Manager, UMBC & Research Park Corp Location: North Campus

Bobbie brings more than 20 years of experience in business operations and research administration at UMBC to the bwtech team, where she leads bwtech’s Office of Business Services. She began her career in Financial Services and went on to serve in key roles as a Human Resources Specialist and Senior Grant Specialist, building deep expertise in both operational and administrative leadership. A graduate of UMD Global Campus, Bobbie also earned a Master Certificate in Research Administration from UMD, Baltimore. Her breadth of experience and institutional knowledge make her an integral part of bwtech’s continued growth and success.

Kristen Franklin

Director of Facilities & Leasing UMBC & Research Park Corp Location: South Campus

Kristen oversees leasing and facilities operations for bwtech's North and South campuses. She also serves as the primary point of contact for those exploring collaborative opportunities with UMBC faculty and staff. Before joining bwtech, Kristen spent over 15 years managing university housing and facilities in the Baltimore/DC area. A Wisconsin native, she holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Marquette University.

Pam Mandell

Engagement & Growth Coordinator, UMBC & Research Park Corp Location: North Campus

Pam plays a central role in advancing bwtech’s community engagement and growth initiatives, with a focus on strategic partnerships and sponsorship development. She leads networking efforts to build connections among tenant companies, the surrounding community, and the UMBC campus. Pam also supports leasing activities, marketing and programming efforts, leadership and board initiatives, leads visitor tours, and helps drive revenue-generating strategies, like expanding the use of bwtech’s meeting spaces. Pam graduated from the University of Florida and earned a Master's Degree in Near Eastern Studies from The Johns Hopkins University.

Stacy Aljabiry

Administrative Assistant UMBC & Research Park Corp, Administrative Assistant UMBC & Research Park Corp, Location: bwtech South

Stacy is responsible for processing agreements and renewals for bwtech clients. She joined the bwtech team over 22 years ago as a receptionist before transitioning to marketing. For the last 15 years, Stacy has been excelling on the facilities management team. Before joining bwtech, Stacy worked in the accounting, medical billing, and printing industries.

Kelly Fox

Accounting Associate UMBC Location: North Campus

Kelly brings 20+ years of accounting experience to bwtech, with deep expertise in budgeting, reconciliation, and compliance. Most recently, Kelly served as Accounting Associate for UMBC's Dept of Residential Life. Throughout her career, Kelly has supported large teams and managed complex, high-volume financial portfolios, experiences that will support bwtech’s continued growth and expansion. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and is a Mississippi native. For the past 25 years, she has called Catonsville home.

Pare Rungsuwansakul

Front Desk Administrator Research Park Corp Location: North Campus

As bwtech’s Business Technology Associate, Pare plays a key role in supporting daily operations by connecting people, systems, and services. Her work spans technical support, CRM management, and operational coordination, as well as overseeing mail and key systems and supporting facility needs. She also provides administrative support to the Business Office, Programming, and Marketing teams. Originally from Thailand, Pare earned her degree in Business Technology Administration from UMBC in 2026.

Rita Classen

Bookkeeper/Consultant Research Park Corp

Rita works in the business office at bwtech, handling tenant billings and financials at North Campus. She is a Baltimore native and a graduate of the University of Baltimore. Before coming to bwtech, Rita worked with her brother to jointly own and operate a small business for 9 years.
