SCALEUP Maryland™ is a four-month, weekly, virtual program, developed by bwtech@UMBC in partnership with TCV Partners. The program, taught by seasoned entrepreneurs and business development professionals, covers topics based on the five key elements of scaling a company: sales and marketing, finance, operations, human capital, and leadership. It promotes in-depth, individualized, and targeted strategies for growth to help C-level leaders create executable Strategic Growth Plans.

How the Program Works
Cohorts are populated twice annually, one in the Spring and one in the Fall, with 8-12 Maryland business leaders. The program curriculum goes into depth on the key elements of scaling a company, aligning the coursework with the real-world experiences of the participating companies, and developing strategies for change and growth. Participants receive a Certificate of Completion upon submission of a confidential Strategic Plan.
• Leadership – Building Trust, Team Building, Communication, Mentoring
• Understanding and Managing Cash Flow – Cash, A/R, A/P, Inventory
• Sales & Marketing – Value Proposition, Positioning, Product/Market Fit
• Acquiring and Managing Resources – Purchasing and Supply Chain
Selection Criteria
- Must be a Maryland-based Entrepreneur and company
- Companies must have revenues from $500K and up
- Businesses led by minorities, women, and veterans are highly encouraged to apply.
Participant Obligations
- Attending and participating in the weekly sessions.
- Purchasing the SCALE book ($30.00)
- Completing assignments prior to each weekly session
- Actively engaging in the discussions
- Completing and presenting a Strategic and Quarterly Action Plan
