Chris Haug is an entrepreneurship evangelist – with a long career as a founder, executive, advisor, and mentor. He believes in giving first, helping others, and that empowering passionate and great innovators and entrepreneurs is our best opportunity to change the world and save our planet.
Chris is the Managing Director of Startup Grind Maryland. Launched in January 2017, Startup Grind Maryland has grown to more than 12,000 members and is part of the Startup Grind Global Community, the largest global independent community of entrepreneurs with 5MM community members in 650+ chapters in 140 countries.
Chris also serves as the Founder and CEO of 360°Venture Management Group, which provides a portfolio of “on-demand” strategy, execution, management, and financing/capital acquisition services for privately held pre-revenue startups through emerging mid-market organizations. At 360°, Chris has led teams across a variety of industries that have created more than $300MM in corporate value including acquiring and managing more than $18MM in equity and $40MM in debt financing.
Chris began his entrepreneurship journey as Controller and CFO of a small construction company that grew to more than $80MM in revenue and 200+ employees in eight years. His first independent venture was founding and growing the first e-commerce sporting goods retailer (laxstore.com), as e-commerce was first emerging. Since then, he has founded or been part of the co-founding team of 9 new ventures and has educated, trained, mentored, and advised more than 100 other startup and growth ventures.
Chris is active in several organizations including the Maryland Tech Council, Maryland Innovation Center, Maryland Business Innovation Association (MBIA), Founder Institute, Techstars, and several regional incubator and accelerator programs. He received a BS in Environmental Science and Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Loyola University-Maryland and participates in the Wharton Executive Education Program. Chris serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore County teaching Management, Leadership, and Communication with the School of Engineering Management.
