On June 11, Dr. Vanderlei Martins received NASA’s Distinguished Public Service Medal, the highest honor NASA confers on a non-government employee. Dr. Martins is a Physics Professor and Director of the Earth and Space Institute at UMBC, as well as a Co-Founder of AirPhoton/GRASP-Earth at bwtech. He was honored with this prestigious award for his substantial contributions, vision, and leadership in delivering the Hyper Angle Rainbow Polarimeter (HARP2) to NASA’s PACE mission.
