MEET THE TEAM BEHIND BWTECH

Aaron Miscenich
Executive Director
Aaron has worked with companies from the concept stage all the way through growth and maturity. On the economic development side, he has managed efforts that have created a knowledge-based economy in Louisiana through public and private funding including federal, state, and local sources, public/private partnerships, and straight development capital.

Alagra Weaver
Business Manager
Alagra handles the business and human resources functions for bwtech@UMBC. She formerly helped direct finance and budget for the Information Technology and Communications Division of the Maryland Department of Public Safety. Alagra was also the Chief Financial Officer for a small and minority business lending fund in Maryland.

Beau Bown
Marketing Manager
Beau is a 2019 Venture For America Fellow from Midway, Utah. He has a background in content marketing, writing, video production, and graphic design. He manages content on the website, coordinates events, composes the monthly newsletter, and creates marketing materials for our tenants at the Cyber Park and the Tech South Park.

Brenda Jackson
Event & Communication Associate
Brenda helps with communication and human resources tasks for bwtech@UMBC. She helps to promote events, sends email campaigns and shares useful information with companies at bwtech@UMBC.

Casina Rice
Program Management Specialist
Casina manages and coordinates events at bwtech South, including the rental and concierge services. Casina also manages tenant billing for the South campus. She is a member of the Baltimore Marketing Association and is the founder of two mission-driven companies, Faith Flos and BlankCanvas2Art.

David Diongue
Business Associate
David helps with the business and human resources functions for bwtech@UMBC. He works at the front desk, helps with events and scheduling, manages the conference rooms and shares useful information with bwtech companies.

David J. Fink, PhD
Entrepreneur in Residence
Dave has worked in biotechnology and biomedical product development for more than 40 years and founded or was a top officer of seven start-ups. In addition to advising life science incubator companies at bwtech@UMBC, he is the Site Miner for UMBC research that,with support from the Maryland Innovation Initiative, holds the potential for commercialization.

Megan Wahler
Director of Entrepreneurial Services
Megan started with bwtech in April of 2019, coming from the Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures FastForward team. In her role at FastForward, Megan worked with countless researchers, students, faculty and startups to advance their research towards commercialization through innovative programming, industry and mentor connections, and talent development raising close to $1 million in grant funding.

Nicholas Zajciw
Sr. Manager of Cyber Initiatives
Nick provides business development, strategy, fundraising, and US market entry support to companies in the Northrop Grumman Cync program, the iCyberCenter@bwtech, and bwtech’s Cyber Incubator. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, a Venture for America Alumnus, Venture Partner with NextGen Venture Partners, and founder of HiveLend.

Walter Schulz, Jr.
Director of Facilities & Leasing
Walt handles all leasing for bwtech@UMBC, manages the incubator and accelerator complexes and is the point of initial contact for those seeking collaborative opportunities with UMBC faculty and staff. He had a distinguished career with the Maryland State Police before earning his real estate license and certification as a real estate property administrator.
